Book Review The Damage Done ; Twelve years of Hell in a Bankok Prison Essay

Book Review The Damage Done ; Twelve years of Hell in a Bankok Prison . by Warren Fellows - Essay Example Warren Fellows ought to be considered as a part of the obstinate hoodlums. As per his own affirmation he had completed a few rounds of criminal operations against the common law in Thailand with full information that he was disregarding the rule that everyone must follow. Is jail the spot to make orderly concealment the soul of detainees by the gatekeepers of jail laws whatever be the gravity of wrongdoing submitted by them? Warren may have numerous thoughts regarding care and transformation of the detainees yet does he merit any of them? Much ado is made about the infringement of human rights by the detainees even in demonstrated instances of blame and conviction by the courts. Brain you, the detainees disregard the human rights first and discipline is just the noteworthy activity. This reference is relevant to solidified hoodlums like Warren, the horrible medication dealers, who play with then existences of generally, the more youthful age. All the while, they decimate the life of the adolescent, his family is damned, and his folks are crushed. Let us go to the inquiry, regardless of whether Warren merited compassion by any means, in the later piece of the exposition. Yet, his odd and unusual stance that the medications carried by him didn't cause any hopelessness whatsoever merits ludicrous judgment. By inciting a person into the propensity for drugs, you are executing him each second. Here is a model, of the course sanctioned by an individual, when he turns into a medication someone who is addicted. â€Å"Years o f extraordinary enduring moved by. Understand guidelines - Essay Example Through position framework, everyone who is conceived in the general public realizes what is anticipated from that person and this thus guarantees circulation of human capital in exceptionally significant callings. There are 4 significant stations, in particular Brahmans, Kshatriyaas, Vaishayas, and Shudras. These positions included strict researchers, rulers and fighters, ranchers and merchants, and basic incompetent specialists separately (Jaffrelot, 174). The reason for every position was fixed and, consequently, an appropriate equalization of all experts existed in the general public. This is one of the significant favorable circumstances of rank framework. Rank framework likewise closes power battle and brutality in the general public as everybody knows about their activity. No rancher or broker will have a desire to turn into a trooper or ruler, and no comparably strict researcher will need to become rule. This stops power battle in the general public and diminishes brutality identified with capacity somewhat. Ignoring the negative marks of station framework on people, one of its principle points of interest of rank framework is that it makes a general public where there is political dependability. This can be named, as it were, as a bit of leeway of the position framework. The standing framework has numerous burdens for normal man. There is zero chance for social portability in a general public with station framework and this can make huge difference among rich and poor. A poor and socially minimized individual will never get an opportunity to improve the circumstance of their family. There is tedium in the lives of individuals who live under a rank framework and this dullness isn't anything but difficult to dispose of. An individual needs to carry on with for his entire life with the name with which he was conceived. There is no possibility to split away from the character one is given at the hour of birth. Another weakness of station framework is that it demolishes standards of legitimacy and expertise. The scholarly capacity of an individual is resolved from the position in which the person in question is conceived, and not by qualities of his

Nutrition and AIDS Essay Example For Students

Nutrition and AIDS Essay This research paper considers the correlation between Nutrition and AIDS Essay and how to assure optimal nutritional status despite the multifactorial complications of the HIV-AIDS progression. It is irrespective of popular beliefs that proper nutrition does not affect the quality and longevity of people with AIDS (PWAS). This research aims to prove that nutrition intervention has an important role in the treatment of AIDS. Some of the information contained in this document will be new to some readers since there is little clinical research published on AIDS and nutritional intervention. Readers who are accustomed to reading articles on sexually transmitted diseases, and how to safeguard against the AIDS disease (e. g. condomizing) will be brought face to face with unrelenting information that has been uncovered and will be presented in a simple, yet straightforward way. Information for this research paper was sourced from relevant books, online sources and from the Caribbean Epidemiology Center (CAREC) in Trinidad. An appendix will also be used to simplify the information. The result of this paper as predicted by the researcher will create a heightened sense of awareness of the effect nutritional status of PWAS to the population. In Trinidad and Tobago, the population is relatively well educated and more prosperous than most Third World countries so HIV/AIDS should not be a major problem. Unfortunately, despite our educational levels, despite the churches assertion of the impossible abstinence over the feasibility and availability of condoms, Trinidad and Tobago is the highest infected country in the Caribbean. (See Appendix 1). Hence, during the HIV-AIDS progression, peoples nutritional status is challenged by symptoms of malabsorption, abnormal nutrient metabolism and severe malnutrition, which decrease longevity and increase morbidity. Malnutrition is a serious problem in the HIV-AIDS progression. The HIV-AIDS progression is a chronic and long-term condition, thus influencing the nutritional status of individuals by affecting nutrient absorption, calorie intake and energy expenditure. Fortunately, malabsorption can be treated by appropriate feeding methods. Malnutrition and malabsorption are universal problems in PWAS, as death is directly related to the degree of their body mass depletion. As a result, malnutrition attracts opportunistic infections to PWAS, which in turn contributes to disease progression. As a result, nutritional management is an integral part in the HIV/AIDS progression. Nutritional management reverses a patients immune dysfunctions, which are directly related to malnutrition, hence increasing longevity and quality of life. The First International Conference on the correlation between nutrition and AIDS was held in France. At the culmination of the conference, it was concurred that multifactorial nutritional support in HIV infection and AIDS can make a difference in managing disease complications and improve the quality of life of patients (Cope, 1995, p. 1). In that year, nutritional deficiencies were recorded in 67% of HIV positive persons. The conference also offered a forum where medical and clinical information from First World and Third World countries on issues such as nutritional assessment, dietary tips to overcome specific problems, in the progression HIV and AIDS on the immunity and various nutritional support of HIV patients were conversed. . The importance of nutritional intervention in the HIV-AIDS progression has changed since the recognition of the problem as a syndrome in the early 1980s. In 1987, a case study on a 29-year old male was conducted. He was admitted to a University Hospital in New York where he suffered from nausea, vomiting and rectal bleeding. In addition, he was readmitted three times with more infections and severe weight loss. Nutritional support and nutritional education was administered to the patient. Regrettably, the role of nutrition in the treatment of the patient was delayed. He died ten days later. Still, in the year 2001 nutritional and clinical studies have received little notice in the general literature for the public. .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 , .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .postImageUrl , .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 , .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5:hover , .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5:visited , .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5:active { border:0!important; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5:active , .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5 .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u5e9a220d5bb36987199916180b3f9ae5:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Satire In Catch 22 Essay ESSENTIAL ROLE OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM IN MAINTAINING THE BODYS HEALTH The immune system is an arrangement within the body that comprises of two significant cell types, namely: the B-cell and the T-cells. Answer to the cloning question essays

Answer to the cloning question essays In our society today there are many topics that are very controversial and stir up heated arguments. When you think of these issues, things like abortion and the death penalty come to mind. The leaps and bounds made in the advancement of technology that must be discussed and decided upon, this will definitely add to the number of controversies. One major topic that has arisen lately is that of human cloning. The definition of cloning is the production of one or more individual plants or animals (whole or in part) that are genetically identical to an original plant or animal (Robinson Religious Tolerance). Genetic researchers tell us that now it is only a matter of time before this is possible. Ten years ago we would have thought that this was so far fetched that scientists could only dream of ever accomplishing this feat. Now it is almost a reality. The topic of cloning is a very touchy one because it deals with several other issues, including abortion. Because of this, the majority of Americans, and the rest of the world, do not see human cloning as a good thing. To understand the topic, you must first know exactly how something is cloned from another cell. The best example to show would be the one that made the now famous cloned sheep named Dolly. First, a cell is taken from a donor, or the person who is to be cloned. Then an unfertilized egg is removed from another donor female. Then the DNA is removed from the donor cell and placed into the donor egg. The egg is then placed back into the surrogate mother where it grows naturally (Robinson Religious Tolerance). When the child is born, it will be a genetic match to the person or animal who donated the original cell or DNA. True human cloning would require taking a somatic cell, as opposed to a reproductive cell such as an egg or sperm cell, from a person and removing its nu cleus. Systematic Change in Hand Hygiene at the Point of Care Research Paper

Systematic Change in Hand Hygiene at the Point of Care - Research Paper Example This can be achieved through staff education on hand hygiene protocol as set forth by Veterans Health Administration's Hand Hygiene Directive, which is based on the hand hygiene recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). This is an evidence-based project to determine the knowledge base of RNs, LPNs and NA prior to each Clinical Focus Session. The theory that hand washing with soap and water will prevent the spread of HAIs, especially Clostridium Difficile, which are frequently found in â€Å"hospitals, nursing homes, extended care facilities and nurseries for newborn infants† (Lee, 2011). Introduction: There is a controversy regarding the ability of water and soap as compared to alcohol hand rubs or â€Å"alcohol sanitizers† (Mayankj, 2010). While most people use soap and water to clean their hands, it is often felt that water alone cannot do the trick of destroying germs. Again, in places where water is scarce and not freely available, it is necessary to c lean hands using alcohol sanitisers. The main advantages of these are that they are convenient to carry, are more effective than soap and water, and do the job of destroying germs faster than conventional soap and water. Besides, these are known to have the potential to â€Å"act quickly to kill microorganisms on hands and.. do not promote antimicrobial resistance† (Alcohol-Based Handrubs: Easy as 1, 2, 3, 2010). Literature Review: Studies were conducted through a prospective multicenter study â€Å"to assess the dryness and irritation of the hands in health care facilities, and to evaluate whether that disinfection with an alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) is better tolerated than classic hand washing with mild soap and water. Our study was conducted in 9 sites in the summer and winter. A team of investigators evaluated dryness and irritation. This study takes into account most of the individual and environmental risk factors (age, sex, use of a protective agent, constitutional factors, personal factors, external factors, institution, function, and number of consecutive working days)† (Chamorey, et al, 2010). 1. According to the Veterans Health Administration’s hand hygiene directive, that is the VHA Directive 2005/2 on hand hygiene practices, it is necessary to † Use an alcohol-based hand rub or antimicrobial soap to routinely decontaminate their hands before and after having direct contact with a patient.† This is in order to avoid the chances of catching infection through patients. The VHA has also recommended that portable hand rubs be readily available for use. (VHA Hand Hygiene Information and Tools, 2009). 2. The WHO guidelines on hand hygiene in health care provide health-care workers (HCWs), hospital administrators and health authorities with a thorough review of evidence on hand hygiene in health care and also endorse specific recommendations to improve practices and reduce transmission of pathogenic microorganisms to pa tients and HCWs. The present guidelines are intended to be implemented in any situation in which health-care is delivered either to a patient or to a specific

Sport clothing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Sport clothing - Essay Example According to NoÃŒ voa & DrăGoicea, (2015, p. 207), sport technology represents a specific type of means to recognize human interests and aims in sport. Sport technology can also refer to the ways in which athletes tend to improve their training in a competitive environment for them to enhance their overall performance. Use of technology in sports involves application of knowledge in using specialized equipment and tools and making use of the available improved technologies to perform tasks more effectively and efficiently. Sporting technologies available include, tennis rackets, pole-vault poles, golf clubs, motion capture, advanced computer stimulations and athletic sports gear such as clothing and footwear. Use of technology in sports is viewable in many perspectives. For instance, technology use exists in the assessment of athletes through biometric sensors, laser-based speed timing and a number of medical technologies. Sports teams and athletes have benefited from the use of technology through better film breakdowns for study, competitive scouting efforts, and statistical reporting. Technology assists in sports competition through instant replays and sensors that help sporting officials decide on whether a ball crosses a line into a goal. This happens in hockey punks and in soccer balls. Fans also benefit in technology through improvements in camera techniques and video display technology (Cremades & Tashman, 2014, p.183). To enhance the athlete’s performance, sports gear such as the clothing and footwear should be friendly and should be of valuable quality in terms of strength thickness, flexibility, durability and resistance to moisture. Footwear is more of a comfort and injury protection wear than a performance enhancing wear in sports. On the contrary, clothing like full body suits streamlines the athletes performance period in a competitive race. Composite tennis racket relates to sporting equipment designed to

Shares and Joint Stock Companies in the New Economic Model Essay Example for Free

Shares and Joint Stock Companies in the New Economic Model Essay Introduction Good morning, dear colleagues. I’m glad to see everyone here. Thank you for your coming. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Elena Torlopova. I’m a freshman of the State University of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation. I study at the department of the international economic relations. My aim for today’s presentation is to give you information about Shares and Joint Stock Companies in the New Economic Model I plan to be brief. My presentation will last only 5 minutes. As you can see, my presentation is divided into 3 main parts. At first I would like to give you the basic concepts and characteristics of joint-stock companies. Then I would like to take a look at benefits and lacks of joint stock companies. Lastly we are going to discuss the definition of blue chips and consider a situation where they are used. Please interrupt me if there is something which needs clarifying, otherwise there will be time for your questions at the end of my talk. The main information about joint stock companies Joint-stock company (JSC) is a company, the authorised capital of which is divided into a certain number of shares owned by shareholders. Shareholders bear no responsibility for its obligations and run the risk, within the value of shares belonging to them, of losses associated with the companys activity. A joint-stock company in which shares can be  traded freely and which may have unlimited number of shareholders is an open joint-stock company. A joint-stock company which shareholders have a pre-emptive right to buy shares sold by other shareholders is a closed joint-stock company. Such a company has no right to hold a public subscription to its shares or for that matter offer them for sale to the general public. Advantages and disadvantages of joint stock companies The company provides so many advantages that it is widely popular all over the world. The main advantages are: Huge resources A company can raise large amount of resources from the genera public by issuing shares. Limited liability The liability of the shareholders is limited to the extent of the face value of the shares held by them or guarantee given by them. Diffused risk The entire business risk of a company is distributed over a large number of shareholders. Thus, the risk is reduced for each shareholder. Despite the above advantages, the company form of organisation also suffers from certain demerits. Oligarchic management It is controlled by a small group of Board of Directors who hardly protect the interest of other shareholders. Lack of secrecy It is very difficult to maintain business secrecy in a company because of every business strategy is discussed in the meeting of the Board of Directors and the annual accounts are published and compliance to Government. Fraudulent management The directors and managers may function for their personal gain overlooking the interest of the company. â€Å"Blue chips† Blue chip stock constitute shares or securities of large reliable companies with stable indices derived from income and dividends paid. In essence, the term blue chip is employed in the stock markets by analogy to describe the actions of well-established entities. The term was coined by Oliver Gingold of Dow Jones Company in 1923. It is reported that  the term was born when Gingold was taking note of several businesses with shares priced at $ 200 per share or more. And went on to indicate intentions of writing an article about the blue chips. Thus the term was born. Typically, blue chips are indicators of the overall market. Blue chip shares are the most liquid securities market. The list of blue chip stock changes periodically, but there are always those that manage to stay on top for years. Examples of the western blue-chip companies are Apple, IBM, The Coca-Cola Company, Ford, Google, etc. In Russia blue chips occur mainly in the oil, gas, energy and telecommunications companies. In particular, the blue chips include such companies as Gazprom, Lukoil, Norilsk Nickel, Rosneft, Sberbank, Rostelecom, RusHydro, Polyus Gold, etc. These companies typically have leading positions in the RTS and MICEX. As you can see on the pie chart 15 percent of blue chips belong to Gazprom. It means that Gazprom shares are the most liquid in terms of sales and account for 15 percent of the total trading volume on the market. The second largest sales shares owned by Lukoil. They constitute 14, 02% of total trading in the market. Sberbank is the third after a Gazprom and Lukoil amounts to 13.88% of sales of its shares on the market. Norilsk Nickel and Rosneft makes 7.56% and 7% of sales in the market, respectively. And finally Surgutneftegas and VTB Bank constitute 4,82% and 4,28% of sales in the market. Thus the total weight of seven securities in the index is 67%, which implies that it is these securities provide direction and determine the dynamics of the Russian market as a whole. Conclusions We gave the definition of the concept of joint-stock company and it basic characteristics. Then we looked at the advantages and disadvantages of joint stock companies. And in the end we discussed the stock market, and specifically the blue chips and looked at the dynamics of the sales of seven major blue chips Russia. So, in conclusion I would like to say that joint-stock form of entrepreneurship plays an important role in the formation of normal conditions of operation of enterprises, allows shareholders to raise funds for its activities, and each worker can become the owner of the company, through acquisition of shares, each shareholder reduces the risk of losing a significant amount of money (each at risk only to the extent of its sum shares) allows you to work more efficiently, since  all are interested in making profits and dividends It should be emphasize once again that the joint stock company is a unique form of collective ownership of the implementation, where everybody i nterested in the results of its operations. Elizabeth Gaskell’s Mary Barton and the Industrial Novel Essay examples

Elizabeth Gaskell’s Mary Barton and the Industrial Novel Elizabeth Gaskell’s Mary Barton belongs to a small, short-lived form of Victorian literature called the industrial novel. The primary authors of this genre—Charles Kingsley, Frances Trollope, Charlotte Brontà «, Benjamin Disraeli, Charles Dickens, and Elizabeth Gaskell—all were, what Herbert Sussman describes, as primarily middle-class authors writing for middle class readers in a rapidly changing world, where both author and reader struggled to comprehend their transforming society. The English people new not whether to accept this newly industrialized world as a necessary result of capitalism, or reject it for its inherent inhumanity. Writers like Gaskell portrayed the victims of this new world with sympathy, but expressed fear that the working-class would someday rise to overthrow the economic system that had treated them with such cruelty. As working conditions improved, and people became tempered to this new world, the industrial novel, with few e xceptions, ceased to exist, but we can use this genre to look back on how the industrialized world—the world in which we now live comfortably—came into being. It was just about 40 years before Elizabeth Gaskell published Mary Barton that Great Britain was primarily a rural, agricultural society. Many people grew their own food, and clothes and household materials were usually made within the home. Any specialized occupation almost always centered on the home and family, with children and parents both contributing to the family business. Three inventions, however, swiftly changed this system. The invention of the spinning mule and spinning jenny allowed mass production of woven cloth, which was ... ...oughout Europe, forced the English government to create new restrictions that outlawed child-labor, decreased working hours, increased worker safety, and implemented a host of other policies that allowed an overall improvement in living conditions for the working-class. By the end of the 19th century, the condition of the working-class was better than it had ever been, and England had survived the most rapid century of change in its history. Literary works like Mary Barton were Gaskell’s attempt to understand this period of change, and they are our best hope of fully understanding them ourselves.    Sources: Victorian Britain. Ed. Middle ages Renaissance Stephani Klingensmith Western Governors University The middle ages, also known as the dark ages lasting about a thousand years. A time in history when life was hard and people were very poor. According to the article written in 2008 The middle ages western reserve public media, the middle ages were from 476A.D to 1450A.D. The article stated that the middle ages were called the dark ages because, the great civilization of Rome and Greece had been conquered.
